Real Estate Gifts
Thank you for considering a gift of real estate to Wild Mountains. There are two types of real estate that donors most often want to leave.
Two ways to give real estate
- 01
Land for permanent protection
We are not able to manage and sustain all of the real estate offered to us. We are usually able to consider only those that are adjacent to an existing Wild Mountains Wildlife Refuge or other high-priority projects. Contact us if you think this is the case.
- 02
Real estate to be sold, with the proceeds supporting our work
If you are leaving a gift of real estate through a will or trust, we prefer that you instruct your executor or trustee to sell the property and donate the proceeds to Wild Mountains. This lets us continue our focus on identified priority projects, and still provides your estate with a tax deduction for the value of the land as sold. It includes rural lands as well as residential and commercial properties.
Language for your will
You may also wish to specify how these proceeds should be used by Wild Mountains: "These proceeds should be used for [eg: koala protection; school programmes; etc.]."
Wild Mountains does not recommend real estate gifts via direct deed transfer, which may not be allowed under law. Contact us if you have additional questions regarding direct deed transfers.
If you have named Wild Mountains in your will, please let us know so we can ensure that your gift is used according to your wishes. If you prefer to remain anonymous, we will keep your name and gift in strict confidence.
"I instruct my executor to sell the property owned by me and located at [address/description of property, lot number, etc.]. The net proceeds from this sale should be donated to the Wild Mountains Trust, a not-for-profit organisation, with its principal offices located at 487 Philp Mountain Road, Running Creek, QLD 4287, ABN 75 767 213 133."
